Surrender
Faith is really just total surrender.
The struggle of faith is to progress our entire being – body, mind, emotions – into a place of complete surrender. In other words, the whole of our person surrendered to the revealed word of God.
Fully conscious of it.
Fully engaged.
Fully given to its pursuit without reservation.
Doubt is simply just one part of me that isn’t fully surrendered to the will of God.
Doubt is just double mindedness – where I am unclear of the mind of God – so therefore not able to be fully confident to actually surrender control. In this place, we are called to surrender our judgements and ‘wait on the Lord’ for His mind to become clear to us. If I am clear on the mind of God – but won’t surrender – then that is a different thing…rebellion.
Confusion (another name for double mindedness) blocks surrender.
Confusion is the foundation of doubt.
Confusion creates uncertainty which creates anxiety and fear.
We are not able to be fully surrendered from the place of uncertainty.
Our fear speaks too loudly and creates the noise that blocks us hearing the confirmations of the Spirit.
Uncertainty prevents us from resting in God.
How can we rest when we are not fully convinced that God has ‘got’ this?
